I’ve just completed a beginner book for cello and piano, called Wild Cello, which I’ll be sending to my publishers – Kevin Mayhew – in January.

It’s been a challenge to compose music which I feel is exciting but is also very simple, and I’m relieved the main work is done. I played all the music through with a local young cellist’s last weekend, and this was a big help. I’ll be recording the music just before Christmas, which means I’ve had to practise the cello again after quite a long gap…and also practice the piano parts.

Wild Cello consists of fifteen pieces for cello and piano, all around Grades 1 – 3, and it’s all in classical/folk style, with a strong Celtic influence. I’ll be writing more about the book in my next few posts.
